Bar Chart
A chart with rectangular bars representing different values. It's best used for comparing discrete categories or groups.
Line Graph
A graph that uses points connected by lines to show how values change over time. Ideal for displaying trends or progressions.
Pie Chart
A circular chart divided into sectors, each representing a proportion of the whole. Best for showing the part-to-whole relationship.
Scatter Plot
A graph with dots representing two numerical variables. It's used to show relationships or correlations between variables.
Histogram
A graph showing frequency distribution with bars. It's best for visualizing the distribution of numerical data.
Box Plot
A graphical representation of the distribution of data that shows medians, quartiles, and outliers. Useful for comparing distributions between groups.
Heat Map
A data visualization technique that shows magnitude of a phenomenon as color in two dimensions. Ideal for comparing patterns across a two-dimensional surface.
Area Chart
Similar to a line graph, but the area under the line is filled with color or texture. It's useful for showing cumulative effect of data over time.
Bubble Chart
A variation of the scatter plot, with data points represented as bubbles. Useful for representing three dimensions of data.
Treemap
A hierarchical data visualization that shows parts to whole relationships with nested rectangles. Best for displaying large amounts of hierarchical data.
Gantt Chart
A type of bar chart that illustrates a project schedule. It highlights the start and finish dates of tasks.
Stacked Bar Chart
An extension of the bar chart where different values are stacked on top of each other. It's beneficial for comparing part-to-whole relationships across categories.
Radar Chart
A graphical method to display multivariate data on axes starting from the same point. Suitable for showing performance metrics or skill evaluations.
Choropleth Map
A thematic map where areas are shaded in proportion to the measurement being represented. It's useful for showing geographical data distribution or density.
Waterfall Chart
A form of data visualization that helps to understand the cumulative effect of sequentially introduced values. Great for visualizing budgetary data or inventory analysis.
Violin Plot
A method of plotting numerical data and its probability density. It is similar to a box plot with a rotated kernel density plot on each side. Valuable for comparing multiple data distributions.
Sunburst Chart
A multilevel pie chart, useful for visualizing hierarchical data structures in a circular layout. It provides insights into proportions and relationships within hierarchy.
Sankey Diagram
A flow diagram in which the width of the arrows is proportional to the flow rate. Ideal for visualizing energy, material, or information transfer.
Bullet Graph
A bar chart designed to replace dashboard gauges and meters. It displays performance data in a more compact space-efficient manner.
Dot Plot
A statistical chart consisting of data points plotted on a simple scale, typically used for small to moderate-sized data sets to show distribution.
