Exosphere

Outermost layer; air is extremely thin; boundary between Earth's atmosphere and outer space.

Troposphere

Contains 75% of the atmosphere's mass; weather phenomena occur here; temperature decreases with altitude.

Mesosphere

Meteoroids burn up in this layer due to collisions; temperature decreases with altitude; difficult to study due to the altitude.

Thermosphere

Temperature increases with altitude; contains the ionosphere; very thin air with few molecules.

Stratosphere

Home to the ozone layer; temperature increases with altitude due to ozone absorption of UV radiation; very stable atmospheric layer.
