Passive-Aggressive Communication
Definition: A communication style where individuals appear passive on the surface but act out aggression in indirect or covert ways. Examples: Sarcasm, backhanded compliments, deliberate procrastination.
Assertive Communication
Definition: A style of communication where individuals express their needs, desires, ideas, and feelings in a direct, honest, and respectful way. Examples: Politely refusing unreasonable requests, openly sharing opinions without disrespect, setting boundaries.
Passive Communication
Definition: A communication style where individuals do not assert their own needs or opinions and allow others to dictate situations. Examples: Avoiding conflict, yielding to others, not expressing dissatisfaction.
Non-Verbal Communication
Definition: The process of transmitting messages without the use of words. This can take many forms, including facial expressions, body language, gestures, and tone of voice. Examples: Nodding to show agreement, crossing arms to suggest defensiveness, maintaining eye contact to show interest.
Aggressive Communication
Definition: A style of communication characterized by dominance and a focus on self-interests, often at the expense of others. Examples: Interrupting or talking over others, using a loud voice or commanding tone, making threats or using insults.
