Feedforward Control
Purpose: To prevent problems before they occur by monitoring inputs and anticipating potential problems. Method of Implementation: This involves establishing standards and specifications for inputs, predicting potential deviations, and taking pre-emptive actions.
Concurrent Control
Purpose: To manage and monitor activities as they occur, ensuring they are aligned with standards. Method of Implementation: Achieved through direct supervision or automated systems that provide immediate feedback on performance as tasks are being performed.
Feedback Control
Purpose: To correct deviations from set standards after they occur. Method of Implementation: This involves measuring outputs or results, comparing these against predetermined standards, and making corrections post-operation.
Benchmarking
Purpose: To compare organizational processes and performance metrics to industry bests or best practices from other companies. Method of Implementation: Identifying benchmark firms, gathering data on their performance, and comparing it against one’s company, followed by implementing changes to match or exceed performance.
Management by Objectives (MBO)
Purpose: To align employees' performance with the organization’s goals through participative goal setting. Method of Implementation: Setting clear, achievable objectives that are agreed upon between management and employees; followed by performance reviews to assess achievement.
