Hip resurfacing
A type of surgery that preserves more bone than a total hip replacement, where the femoral head is covered with a smooth metal cap.
Morton's neuroma excision
Surgical removal of a neuroma, a thickening of nerve tissue, commonly occurring between the third and fourth toes.
Bone graft
A surgical procedure that uses transplanted bone to repair and rebuild diseased or damaged bones.
Osteoplasty
Surgical repair or reshaping of a bone, often used to address bone spurs or minor deformities.
Plantar fasciotomy
The surgical release of the plantar fascia to relieve the tension and pain associated with conditions like plantar fasciitis.
Synovectomy
The surgical removal of the synovial membrane from a joint, often performed to reduce pain and swelling in conditions like rheumatoid arthritis.
Ankle arthroplasty
Surgical replacement of the ankle joint with an artificial prosthesis, often indicated for severe arthritis or injury.
Microdiscectomy
A minimally invasive surgical procedure to relieve pressure on a spinal nerve root by removing the material causing the pain, such as herniated disc materials.
Tendon transfer
A type of surgery where a functioning tendon is shifted from its original attachment to a new one to restore the lost function of a muscle.
Osteoclasis
The intentional surgical fracturing of a bone to correct a deformity.
Bunionectomy
Surgical removal of a bunion, a bony bump that forms on the joint at the base of the big toe, often involving the realignment of bone.
Total knee replacement
A surgical procedure where the knee joint is replaced with artificial parts, commonly used to relieve pain and disability from arthritis or injury.
Carpal tunnel release
A surgical procedure used to treat carpal tunnel syndrome, involving cutting the ligament that forms the roof of the tunnel, to relieve pressure on the median nerve.
Discectomy
A surgical procedure to remove the damaged portion of a herniated disk in your spine.
Joint debridement
Surgical removal of unhealthy tissue from a joint to relieve pain or improve function, often due to degenerative joint diseases.
Cervical fusion
A type of spine surgery that involves joining selected bones in the neck (cervical vertebrae) often used to stabilize the cervical spine or relieve pain.
Fracture reduction
The process of realigning broken bones to their proper position, can be closed (non-surgical) or open (surgical).
Kyphoplasty
A minimally invasive surgery used to treat a spinal compression fracture, involving the insertion of a balloon to restore vertebral height followed by cement.
Ganglion cyst removal
Surgical excision of a ganglion cyst, a noncancerous lump that most commonly develops along the tendons or joints of your wrists or hands.
Total hip replacement
A surgical procedure in which the hip joint is replaced by a prosthetic implant, often used for osteoarthritis or fractures.
Shoulder arthroplasty
Replacement of the shoulder joint with a prosthetic implant, commonly due to severe arthritis or a complex fracture.
Amputation
The surgical removal of a limb or extremity, usually performed as a life-saving measure or due to severe injury or infection.
Hammer toe correction
Surgery to straighten a bent toe caused by a deformity, frequently involving tendon and joint repositioning or removal of bone spurs.
Lumbar fusion
Surgical procedure to join two or more bones in the lower back (lumbar vertebrae), often used to treat pain or instability.
Dupuytren's contracture fasciectomy
A surgical procedure to remove the thickened and contracted part of the fascia in the hand in Dupuytren's contracture illness.
Chondroplasty
Surgical smoothing of the damaged cartilage in the joint, typically the knee, to reduce friction and pain caused by conditions like arthritis.
Laminectomy
A surgical procedure to remove the back part of the vertebra that covers the spinal canal, commonly used to relieve pressure on the spinal cord or nerve roots.
Meniscectomy
A surgical procedure involving the removal of all or part of a torn meniscus in the knee.
Fasciotomy
A surgical procedure where the fascia is cut to relieve tension or pressure, commonly used to treat compartment syndrome.
Rotator cuff repair
A surgical procedure to repair a torn rotator cuff in the shoulder, often caused by injury or repetitive motion.
Biceps tenodesis
A surgical procedure to anchor the biceps tendon to the upper arm bone (humerus), often used for shoulder pain relief or biceps tendonitis.
ACL reconstruction
The surgical replacement of the anterior cruciate ligament, commonly due to athletic injury, using a tissue graft.
Osteotomy
A surgical operation whereby a bone is cut to shorten, lengthen, or change its alignment; often used in knee and hip procedures.
Tenotomy
A surgical procedure to cut through or release a tendon and is often used to treat tendonitis or to correct muscle imbalance.
Achilles tendon repair
Surgical procedure to fix the Achilles tendon after a tear or rupture, usually involves stitching the torn pieces together.
Spinal fusion
Surgical technique to join two or more vertebrae, often used to stabilize the spine and provide relief from chronic pain.
Hallux valgus correction
Surgical correction of the deformity of the big toe known as 'bunion', involving realignment of the toe and associated structures.
Metatarsal surgery
Surgery on the metatarsal bones of the foot, often to correct deformities like bunions or to treat fractures and pain.
Arthroscopy
A minimally invasive surgical procedure on a joint in which an examination and sometimes treatment is performed using an arthroscope, commonly used for joints like the knee or shoulder.
Patellar stabilization
Surgical techniques used to correct instability of the patella (kneecap), including realignment procedures and ligament reconstructions.
