Flashcards
0/4
The Third Noble Truth: Nirodha
The truth of the cessation of suffering. This noble truth explains that it is possible to put an end to dukkha. By relinquishing attachments, desires, and ignorance, one can attain Nibbana (Nirvana), the ultimate liberation.
The Fourth Noble Truth: Magga
The truth of the path leading to the cessation of suffering. Often referred to as the Noble Eightfold Path, this is the practical guideline to ethical and mental development with the goal to free individuals from attachments and delusions.
The First Noble Truth: Dukkha
The truth of suffering. Dukkha can be understood as the inherent unsatisfactoriness, suffering, and anxiety in life. This extends from the most obvious physical pain and distress to a subtle form of unease with existence itself.
The Second Noble Truth: Samudaya
The truth of the origin of suffering. It's claimed that the root of all suffering is desire, attachment, and ignorance. The craving leads to a cycle of rebirth and continued dukkha.
