Flashcards
0/15
The addition of a stimulus which results in a decrease of a behavior.
Positive Punishment
A behavioral consequence that decreases the likelihood of the behavior occurring again in the future.
Punishment
A strategy in which behaviors are reinforced only some of the time.
Partial Reinforcement
Removing a stimulus which leads to a decrease in the behavior that it follows.
Negative Punishment
Reinstating a previously extinguished response by reintroducing reinforcement.
Spontaneous Recovery
The process by which a behavior is strengthened by the consequence of receiving something desirable.
Positive Reinforcement
A type of learning in which behavior is strengthened if followed by a reinforcer or diminished if followed by a punisher.
Operant Conditioning
The reinforcement of a behavior after a varying amount of time since the last reinforcement, as long as at least one response occurred within that interval.
Variable Interval Schedule
The removal of an unpleasant stimulus to increase the probability of a behavior's recurring.
Negative Reinforcement
A strategy of behavioral learning in which the probability of a response is reduced by following it with the presentation of an unpleasant stimulus.
Positive Punishment
A pattern of delivering reinforcement only after a certain amount of time has passed and a response has occurred.
Fixed Interval Schedule
The weakening and eventual disappearance of a learned response when it is not followed by a reinforcer.
Extinction
A schedule where reinforcement is provided after an unpredictable number of responses.
Variable Ratio Schedule
The reinforcement of a behavior every single time it occurs.
Continuous Reinforcement
A schedule where reinforcement happens after a set number of responses.
Fixed Ratio Schedule
