Calorimetry
The science of measuring the heat of chemical reactions or physical changes.
Calorimeter
An instrument used to measure quantities of heat transferred to or from a substance.
Specific Heat Capacity ()
The amount of heat required to raise the temperature of one gram of a substance by one degree Celsius.
Heat ()
The form of energy transfer due to a temperature difference.
Enthalpy Change ()
The heat change at constant pressure, which is equivalent to the heat absorbed or released during a reaction.
Bomb Calorimeter
A type of constant-volume calorimeter used to measure the energy released by combustible substances.
Coffee Cup Calorimeter
A simple, constant-pressure calorimeter often used in introductory chemistry experiments.
Latent Heat
The amount of heat absorbed or released by a substance during a phase change, at constant temperature and pressure.
