DGNB Certification
Key Requirements: Environmental, economic, socio-cultural, technical, process, site related Quality. Certification Process: Pre-certificate at the design phase, audits at construction phase, final certificate after completion, issued by the German Sustainable Building Council.
EDGE (Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies)
Key Requirements: Minimum 20% savings in energy, water, and embodied energy in materials compared to local standards. Certification Process: Self-assessment with EDGE software, design audit, as-built audit, certification by IFC (International Finance Corporation).
LEED Certification
Key Requirements: Sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, indoor environmental quality. Certification Process: Registration, application submittal, review by Green Business Certification Inc., certification award.
BREEAM
Key Requirements: Management, health and wellbeing, energy, transport, water, materials, waste, land use and ecology, pollution. Certification Process: Register the project, pre-assessment, design stage assessment, post-construction stage assessment, certification awarded by Building Research Establishment (BRE).
Green Star
Key Requirements: Management, indoor environment quality, energy, transport, water, materials, land use and ecology, emissions, innovation. Certification Process: Stage-based certification during design, construction and operational phases, administered by the Green Building Council of Australia.
HQE (Haute Qualité Environnementale)
Key Requirements: Energy management and eco-construction, eco-management, comfort, health. Certification Process: Two-phase certification: first during design (Profil HQE), then post-construction (Certificat HQE) by Certivéa or other recognized bodies.
Fitwel Certification
Key Requirements: Location, building access, outdoor spaces, entrances and ground floor, stairwells, indoor environment, workspaces, shared spaces, water supply, cafeterias and prepared food retail, vending machines and snack bars. Certification Process: Digital scorecard submission, review by Center for Active Design, certification awarded.
WELL Certification
Key Requirements: Air, water, nourishment, light, fitness, comfort, mind. Certification Process: Project registration, documentation submission, on-site assessments, performance verification, certification by the International WELL Building Institute.
Net Zero Energy Building Certification
Key Requirements: Achieve net-zero energy consumption, meaning the total amount of energy used by the building is equal to the amount of renewable energy created on-site. Certification Process: 12 consecutive months of documented net-zero energy performance, third-party review, certification by the International Living Future Institute.
