Hemophilia
A hereditary bleeding disorder characterized by a deficiency of clotting factors, leading to prolonged bleeding.
Blood Type
Categories of blood based on the presence or absence of certain antigens on the surface of red blood cells, important for blood transfusions.
Anemia
A condition characterized by a deficiency in red blood cells or hemoglobin, resulting in a reduction of oxygen transport to body tissues.
Plasma
The liquid component of blood that carries cells, proteins, nutrients, and waste products throughout the body.
Hemoglobin
An iron-containing protein in red blood cells that binds to oxygen and gives blood its red color.
Leukemia
A type of cancer that affects the blood and bone marrow, characterized by the overproduction of abnormal white blood cells.
Platelets (Thrombocytes)
Small, disc-shaped cell fragments that play a key role in blood clotting and repair of damaged blood vessels.
Red Blood Cells (Erythrocytes)
These cells carry oxygen from the lungs to the rest of the body and return carbon dioxide to be exhaled.
Sickle Cell Disease
A genetic disorder that results in the production of abnormal hemoglobin, causing red blood cells to assume a sickle shape and become less efficient at oxygen delivery.
White Blood Cells (Leukocytes)
These cells are part of the immune system and help defend the body against infection and disease.
