Sagittal Plane
The sagittal plane divides the body into left and right halves. Movements in this plane are typically forward and backward movements. Examples include walking, squatting, and bicep curls.
Transverse Plane
The transverse plane divides the body into superior (upper) and inferior (lower) halves. Movements in this plane generally involve rotational actions. Examples include twisting the torso or spinning on an axis, as seen in golf swings or discus throws.
Frontal (Coronal) Plane
The frontal plane divides the body into anterior (front) and posterior (back) halves. Movements in this plane are along the side of the body, such as side-to-side movements. Examples include lateral raises, side lunges, and jumping jacks.
