Transcription
Transcription is the process of converting a specific sequence of DNA into RNA. Significance: It's the first step in gene expression and determines which proteins are expressed at what times in a cell.
Central Dogma
The Central Dogma of molecular biology describes the two-step process, transcription and translation, by which the information in genes flows into proteins: DNA → RNA → Protein. Significance: It lays the foundational framework for understanding genetic expression and regulation.
Translation
Translation is the process of synthesizing a protein from an mRNA template. Significance: It's the second step in gene expression, responsible for decoding the mRNA into a functional protein.
