Chemoembolization
Indication: Cancer treatment, mainly liver. Procedure: Combines embolization with chemotherapy to target the tumor.
Transjugular Intrahepatic Portosystemic Shunt (TIPS)
Indication: Portal hypertension, often due to liver cirrhosis. Procedure: A shunt is created between the portal and systemic venous circulation to reduce pressure.
Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA)
Indication: Cancer treatment for tumors. Procedure: High-frequency electrical currents heat and destroy cancer cells.
Cryoablation
Indication: Treatment of tumors. Procedure: Extreme cold is used to freeze and destroy abnormal tissues.
Biopsy
Indication: Suspicion of cancer or other diseases. Procedure: A sample of tissue is taken for examination under a microscope.
Biliary Drainage
Indication: Obstructive jaundice or bile duct blockage. Procedure: A catheter is placed to bypass the blockage and drain bile.
Arteriovenous (AV) Fistula Creation
Indication: Hemodialysis for kidney disease. Procedure: A direct connection is made between an artery and a vein, allowing high volumes of blood flow.
Angioplasty
Indication: Blocked or narrowed blood vessels. Procedure: A balloon-tipped catheter is inserted and inflated to open up the blood vessel.
Fistulogram
Indication: Dialysis fistula problems. Procedure: Contrast dye is used to image the blood flow and detect abnormalities.
Microwave Ablation
Indication: Tumor treatment. Procedure: Microwave energy is used to heat and destroy tumor cells.
Stent Placement
Indication: To keep arteries open after angioplasty. Procedure: A stent is placed in the artery to keep it open after the expansion from angioplasty.
Endovenous Laser Treatment (EVLT)
Indication: Varicose veins. Procedure: Laser energy is used to close the faulty veins.
Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE)
Indication: Non-cancerous growths in the uterus. Procedure: Blood flow to fibroids is reduced, causing them to shrink.
Central Line Insertion
Indication: Long-term intravenous access. Procedure: A long-term catheter is inserted into a major vein for medication or nutrient delivery.
Embolization
Indication: Control bleeding or block blood flow to a tumor. Procedure: Embolic agents are injected to obstruct blood flow.
Percutaneous Transhepatic Cholangiography (PTC)
Indication: Diagnose and treat bile duct problems. Procedure: A contrast dye is injected into liver bile ducts and X-rays are taken.
Thrombolysis
Indication: Acute blood clot. Procedure: Drugs are delivered to break down the clot rapidly.
Vertebroplasty
Indication: Vertebral compression fractures. Procedure: Bone cement is injected into the fractured vertebrae to stabilize them.
Central Venous Access
Indication: Long-term medication administration or dialysis. Procedure: A catheter is placed in a large vein, often the jugular or subclavian.
Inferior Vena Cava (IVC) Filter Placement
Indication: Prevention of pulmonary embolism. Procedure: A filter is placed in the IVC to catch blood clots before they reach the lungs.
Nephrostomy
Indication: Urinary obstruction. Procedure: A catheter is inserted to drain urine directly from the kidney.
Gastrostomy Tube Placement
Indication: Long-term feeding problems. Procedure: A tube is inserted through the abdomen into the stomach for feeding.
