Interrogatories
A written set of questions requiring written answers from a party to the litigation, used to gather information concerning the lawsuit.
Deposition
An out-of-court testimony given under oath by any person involved in the case. This is transcribed and can be used for later court proceedings.
Electronic Discovery (e-Discovery)
The process of identifying, collecting, and producing electronically stored information (ESI) such as emails, texts, social media posts, etc., relevant to the case.
Document Production
A request to review and copy documents related to the case from another party. These documents can be emails, letters, contracts, accounting records, etc.
Request for Admissions
A set of statements sent to an opposing party in a lawsuit requiring them to admit or deny the statements' truth. It helps establish facts agreed upon by both parties.
Physical or Mental Examination
A court-ordered examination of a party to evaluate their physical or mental condition, usually when such a condition is in question for the lawsuit.
