Summons
A legal document issued by a court (a judicial summons) or by an administrative agency of government (an administrative summons) for various purposes.
Constructive Service
Also known as 'service by publication,' this method is used when the whereabouts of the defendant or respondent are unknown. It involves publishing a notice in a newspaper or official court publications.
Service of Process
The procedure by which a party to a lawsuit gives an appropriate notice of initial legal action to another party, court, or administrative body in an effort to exercise jurisdiction over that person so as to enable that person to respond to the proceeding before the court, body, or other tribunal.
Personal Service
