Subject Matter Jurisdiction
The authority of a court to hear cases of a particular type or cases relating to a specific subject matter.
Diversity Jurisdiction
Jurisdiction granted to federal courts in cases involving citizens of different states or a foreign country, where the amount in controversy exceeds
Limited Jurisdiction
Courts that are limited in the types of criminal and civil cases they may hear (e.g., bankruptcy, family or traffic courts).
