Contempt of Court
If a debtor refuses to obey a judgment, the creditor can ask the court to enforce its orders. The debtor may face contempt of court charges, resulting in fines or even jail time.
Bank Levy
A bank levy allows a creditor to legally take funds from a debtor's bank account to satisfy a judgment. The bank is served with a levy order and must freeze the debtor's account up to the amount owed.
Wage Garnishment
Wage garnishment is a legal procedure in which a portion of a debtor's earnings is withheld by an employer for the payment of a debt as ordered by a court or other legal body.
Writ of Execution
A writ of execution is a court order granting a creditor the right to possess the debtor's assets. It may lead to the seizure and selling of a debtor's property by a sheriff.
Lien
A lien is a legal claim or a right against a property. Liens can be used as collateral to satisfy a debt, preventing the debtor from selling the property without paying the outstanding judgment.
