Plaintiff
The plaintiff is the person or party who initiates the lawsuit by filing a complaint against the defendant alleging wrongdoing.
Defendant
The defendant is the person or party being sued. They are required to respond to the plaintiff's complaint and may file a counterclaim.
Third-Party Defendant
A third-party defendant is someone who is brought into the lawsuit by the original defendant, claiming that this third party is actually liable for the plaintiff's damages.
Amicus Curiae
