Refraction Assessment
Purpose is to determine a person's prescription for eyeglasses or contact lenses. It measures how light waves are bent as they pass through the cornea and the lens.
Fluorescein Angiography
Purpose is to visualize the flow of blood through the retina and choroid to detect circulatory problems, diabetic retinopathy, or macular degeneration.
Fundus Photography
Purpose is to record the retina's condition and other areas of the vitreous and the choroid, helping in monitoring the progression of certain eye conditions over time.
Visual Field Test
Purpose is to determine how much peripheral vision a person has and to detect possible blind spots (scotomas), which can indicate eye diseases.
Slit-Lamp Examination
Purpose is to examine the structures of the eye under high magnification. It can detect a range of conditions, including cataracts, macular degeneration, corneal ulcers, and diabetic retinopathy.
Corneal Topography
Purpose is to create a detailed map of the curvature of the cornea, which is useful in planning surgery, fitting contact lenses, and diagnosing corneal diseases.
Visual Acuity Test
Purpose is to determine the smallest letters a person can read on a standardized chart (Snellen chart) positioned at a specific distance. It measures clarity or sharpness of vision.
Tonometry
Purpose is to measure the pressure inside the eye, referred to as intraocular pressure (IOP), to assess for glaucoma.
Dilated Eye Exam
Purpose is to provide a more comprehensive view of the internal structures of the eye, including the retina and optic nerve. Drops are used to dilate the pupils.
Ocular Coherence Tomography (OCT)
Purpose is to capture cross-sectional images of the retina to map and measure its thickness, useful in diagnosing conditions such as glaucoma and macular degeneration.
