Golfer's Elbow (Medial Epicondylitis)
Pain and inflammation occurring on the medial side of the elbow from overuse of forearm muscles.
Triceps Brachii
A three-headed muscle on the back of the upper arm responsible for elbow extension.
Elbow Fractures
Breaks in one or more of the bones forming the elbow joint, often a result of trauma such as a fall.
Ulnar Collateral Ligament (UCL) Injury
A tear of the ligament on the medial side of the elbow, common in overhead throwing athletes.
Elbow Bursitis (Olecranon Bursitis)
Inflammation of the olecranon bursa at the back of the elbow, leading to swelling and pain.
Annular Ligament
The ligament that encircles the head of the radius, allowing it to pivot while maintaining joint stability.
Ligaments of the Elbow
Elastic bands of tissue that connect bones and provide stability to the elbow joint.
Radius
One of the two forearm bones, primarily involved in the wrist joint but also articulates with the humerus at the elbow.
Tennis Elbow (Lateral Epicondylitis)
A condition that causes pain around the lateral epicondyle of the humerus, often due to overuse of the forearm muscles and tendons.
Cubital Tunnel Syndrome
A condition caused by pressure on the ulnar nerve at the elbow, leading to numbness and tingling in the ring and little fingers.
Brachialis
A muscle of the upper arm that lies underneath the biceps and is a major flexor of the elbow joint.
Humerus
The upper arm bone that articulates with the forearm bones (ulna and radius) at the elbow joint.
Elbow Dislocation
Occurs when the bones of the forearm (ulna and radius) move out of place compared to the humerus.
Biceps Brachii
A two-headed muscle located on the front of the upper arm responsible for flexing the elbow.
Nursemaid's Elbow (Radial Head Subluxation)
A common elbow injury in children where the annular ligament slips and partially dislocates the radial head.
Ulna
One of the two forearm bones, playing a major role in the elbow joint, where it articulates with the humerus.
Pronator Teres Syndrome
A condition caused by compression of the median nerve near the elbow, affecting forearm rotation and leading to pain and numbness.
Elbow Arthroscopy
A minimally invasive surgical procedure used to diagnose and treat conditions within the elbow joint.
Olecranon Process
The prominent bony projection of the ulna at the elbow, which forms the point of the elbow and articulates with the humerus.
Osteoarthritis of the Elbow
Degeneration of the cartilage in the elbow joint, causing pain, stiffness, and decreased range of motion.
