First Baseman
Role: Defends the area around first base and catches balls thrown to first base. Area of Play: First base area.
Pitcher
Role: Throws the baseball from the pitcher's mound to the catcher. Area of Play: Pitcher's mound.
Second Baseman
Role: Defends between first and second base and covers second base. Area of Play: Right side of the infield.
Catcher
Role: Catches pitches thrown by the pitcher and defends home plate. Area of Play: Behind home plate in catcher's box.
Third Baseman
Role: Defends the area around third base and catches balls hit down the third base line. Area of Play: Third base area.
Shortstop
Role: Defends the area between second and third base and covers second base. Area of Play: Left side of the infield.
Center Fielder
Role: Catches fly balls, fields base hits, and backs up second base. Area of Play: Behind second base, covering the most territory in the outfield.
Left Fielder
Role: Catches fly balls, fields base hits, and backs up third base. Area of Play: Left side of the outfield.
Right Fielder
Role: Catches fly balls, fields base hits, and backs up first base. Area of Play: Right side of the outfield.
