M Zone Defense
Implementation: Defense arranges themselves in an 'M' shape, covering key areas in their half. Goal: To centralize defense against top attackers and impede central penetration.
Sloughing Off
Implementation: Defender leaves their mark in order to double-team the opponent's top scorer. Goal: To reduce the scoring threat by providing additional cover.
Zone Defense
Implementation: Players cover zones in the pool rather than marking specific opponents. Goal: To prevent opponents from getting comfortable in possession and reduce scoring opportunities.
Weak Side Attack
Implementation: Focusing on attacking from the side of the pool opposite the ball. Goal: To catch the defense unprepared by attacking from an unexpected angle.
Counter Attack

Ball-Side Drive
Implementation: An attacker swims toward the side where the ball is to receive a pass. Goal: To get ahead of their defender and gain a positional advantage for scoring.
Goalkeeper Outlets
Implementation: Goalkeeper throws the ball to start a counter-attack after a save or turnover. Goal: To quickly transition to offense and potentially catch the opposition off guard.
Power Play (Man-Up)
Implementation: Offense takes advantage of a player being ejected (man-up) by passing quickly to create open shots. Goal: To score while having a numerical advantage in the pool.
