0/7
Recurrent Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs)
Increased frequency of UTIs due to changes in the urinary tract. Preventative measures include cranberry supplements and vaginal estrogen therapy.
Genital Prolapse
Descent of pelvic organs causing a bulge in the vagina, due to weakening of the support structures. Treatment can involve pelvic floor physiotherapy, pessary devices, or surgery.
Decreased Libido
Reduction in sexual desire, often associated with hormonal changes. Options for management include hormone therapy as well as counseling and sex therapy.
Vaginal Dryness
Atrophy of vaginal tissues due to decreased estrogen leading to dryness. Treatment includes vaginal moisturizers, lubricants, and possibly hormone replacement therapy.
Dysuria
Pain or burning during urination, often caused by atrophic urethritis. Treatment may involve topical estrogens and managing urinary pH.
Vaginal Atrophy
Thinning and inflammation of the vaginal walls due to decreased estrogen. Treatments include vaginal moisturizers, local estrogen therapy, and possibly selective estrogen receptor modulators (SERMs).
Urinary Urgency
Frequent and sudden urge to urinate. Pelvic floor exercises and bladder training can help, along with topical or systemic estrogen therapy.
