Function: Optic nerve, responsible for vision. Entry/Exit: Optic canal of the sphenoid bone.

Function: Vestibulocochlear nerve, responsible for hearing and balance. Entry/Exit: Internal acoustic meatus of the temporal bone.

Function: Olfactory nerve, responsible for sense of smell. Entry/Exit: Cribriform plate of the ethmoid bone.

Function: Trochlear nerve, innervates the superior oblique muscle of the eye. Entry/Exit: Superior orbital fissure of the sphenoid bone.

Function: Accessory nerve, innervates sternocleidomastoid and trapezius muscles. Entry/Exit: Enters skull through foramen magnum and exits through the jugular foramen of the occipital bone.

Function: Trigeminal nerve, responsible for facial sensation and mastication. Entry/Exit: V1 - Superior orbital fissure, V2 - Foramen rotundum, V3 - Foramen ovale, all of the sphenoid bone.

Function: Oculomotor nerve, innervates most of the eye muscles. Entry/Exit: Superior orbital fissure of the sphenoid bone.

Function: Abducens nerve, innervates the lateral rectus muscle of the eye. Entry/Exit: Superior orbital fissure of the sphenoid bone.

Function: Facial nerve, controls facial expressions, taste from anterior 2/3 of the tongue, and lacrimal and salivary glands. Entry/Exit: Internal acoustic meatus to the stylomastoid foramen of the temporal bone.

Function: Glossopharyngeal nerve, innervates part of the tongue and pharynx, and is responsible for taste from posterior 1/3 of the tongue. Entry/Exit: Jugular foramen of the temporal and occipital bones.
XII
Function: Hypoglossal nerve, controls the muscles of the tongue. Entry/Exit: Hypoglossal canal of the occipital bone.
X
Function: Vagus nerve, controls muscles in voice box, throat, and regulates viscera. Entry/Exit: Jugular foramen of the temporal and occipital bones.
