tRNA
Function: Transfer RNA (tRNA) is responsible for bringing the appropriate amino acids into place at the ribosome during protein synthesis. Characteristics: tRNA molecules have a cloverleaf-like structure with an anticodon loop and an attached amino acid at the opposite end.
mRNA
Function: Messenger RNA (mRNA) carries genetic information from DNA to the ribosome, where proteins are synthesized. Characteristics: It's a single-stranded RNA molecule that is complementary to one of the DNA strands of a gene. It has codons that specify the sequence of amino acids in proteins.
rRNA
Function: Ribosomal RNA (rRNA) is a component of ribosomes, and is essential for protein synthesis in all living organisms. Characteristics: rRNA molecules form the structural and catalytic core of ribosomes, interacting with mRNA and tRNA during translation.
