Endometrium
The endometrium is the inner lining of the uterus that thickens in preparation for a potential pregnancy and sheds during menstruation if no pregnancy occurs.
Vulva
The vulva represents the external parts of the female genitalia, encompassing the labia majora, labia minora, clitoris, and the openings of the urethra and vagina.
Labia Majora
The labia majora are the larger, outer folds of the vulva that protect its delicate structures and contain sweat and oil-secreting glands.
Fimbriae
Fimbriae are fringe-like projections at the end of the Fallopian tubes that sweep the ovum into the tube for transport to the uterus.
Ovaries
Ovaries are the female gonads responsible for producing eggs (oocytes) and secreting sex hormones, including estrogen and progesterone.
Uterus
The uterus is a hollow muscular organ that houses and nourishes the developing fetus during pregnancy and contracts to aid in the delivery process.
Vagina
The vagina is a muscular canal that extends from the cervix to the vulva, serving as the passageway for menstrual fluid, sexual intercourse, and childbirth.
Bartholin's Glands
Bartholin's Glands are two small glands located near the vaginal opening that produce a fluid to lubricate the vulva during sexual arousal.
Mammary Glands
Mammary glands are specialized organs in female breasts that produce milk after childbirth, functioning in the nutrition and immune defense of the infant.
Mons Pubis
The mons pubis is the rounded mound of fatty tissue that covers the pubic bone and serves as a cushion during sexual activity.
Fallopian Tubes
Fallopian Tubes are pair of tubes that transport the ova from the ovary to the uterus each month. In the case of fertilization, it typically occurs within these tubes.
Cervix
The cervix is the lower, narrow part of the uterus that opens into the vagina. It serves as a passageway for sperm to enter the uterus and for menstrual blood or a baby to exit.
Labia Minora
The labia minora are the smaller, inner folds of the vulva that protect the openings of the urethra and vagina and can swell with blood during sexual arousal.
Uterine Tubes
The uterine tubes, also known as Fallopian tubes, are part of the upper genital tract and convey eggs from the ovaries to the uterus. The site where fertilization typically takes place.
Clitoris
The clitoris is a sensitive erectile organ located at the anterior part of the vulva, possessing a significant number of nerve endings for sexual pleasure.
