Subtotal Hysterectomy
Removal of the upper part of the uterus, leaving the cervix in place. May be performed when cervical removal isn't necessary.
Hysterectomy for Uterine Prolapse
Removal of the uterus to treat uterine prolapse, where the uterus descends into the vaginal canal.
Salpingectomy
Removal of one or both fallopian tubes, sometimes done during hysterectomy to prevent cancer or treat infections.
Oophorectomy
Removal of one or both ovaries, often performed as part of a hysterectomy to reduce the risk of ovarian cancer.
Radical Hysterectomy
Removal of the entire uterus, tissue on the sides of the uterus, the cervix, and the top part of the vagina. Typically performed when cancer is present.
Total Hysterectomy
Removal of the entire uterus including the cervix. Often needed for uterine fibroids, endometriosis, or cancer.
Hysterectomy for Abnormal Bleeding
Uterus removal to address cases of persistent or abnormal uterus bleeding that is unresponsive to other treatments.
Hysterectomy for Gynecologic Cancer
This type of hysterectomy is conducted to remove gynecologic cancers, such as those of the uterus, cervix, or endometrium.
