Secure Attachment Style
Characterized by trust, lack of concern with being abandoned, and view that one is worthy and well-liked. Developmentally, these individuals tend to have positive long-term relationships and good emotional regulation.
Anxious-Preoccupied Attachment Style
Characterized by dependency or 'clinginess', seeking high levels of intimacy, approval, and responsiveness from partners, often feeling unwanted or fearing that their partners will leave them. Developmentally, they may struggle with self-image and have heightened levels of emotional distress in relationships.
Dismissive-Avoidant Attachment Style
Characterized by a desire for emotional distance, self-sufficiency, independence and often an avoidance of attachment altogether. Developmentally, they may have difficulties with closeness and trusting others, leading to more isolated lifestyles.
Fearful-Avoidant Attachment Style
Characterized by a complex mix of neediness and a fear of closeness, often resulting from trauma or loss. Developmentally, fearfully attached individuals may experience relationship ambivalence and have difficulties trusting others.
