Shortness of Breath
Unexpected trouble breathing without exertion. Seek immediate medical attention, as it can be a sign of a heart attack, particularly if accompanied by chest discomfort.
Chest Pain or Discomfort
Feeling of pressure, tightness, or a squeezing sensation in the chest. If observed, call emergency services immediately, as this is a classic heart attack symptom.
Cold Sweat
Sudden onset of sweating without physical or environmental reasons. Medical attention should be sought immediately, as this can indicate stress on the heart.
Nausea or Vomiting
An unexpected feeling of sickness or actual vomiting. While these can have many causes, they can also be related to a heart attack. Get checked by a doctor if combined with other heart attack symptoms.
Heartburn
A burning sensation in the chest that may mimic heart attack symptoms. If it's recurrent or comes with other symptoms of a heart attack, get medical help at once.
Irregular Heartbeat
Palpitations or a feeling that the heart is skipping beats. If this is a new symptom or accompanied by other signs of a heart attack, seek emergency medical care.
Fatigue
Unusual tiredness or exhaustion, which cannot be explained by a lack of sleep or exertion. When severe and accompanied by other symptoms, seek medical care urgently.
Persistent Cough
Coughing that does not resolve and may produce white or pink mucus, which could signify heart failure, a precursor to a heart attack. A medical evaluation should be sought without delay.
Feeling Dizzy or Lightheaded
A sudden feeling of unsteadiness or faintness. It could signal a drop in blood pressure due to a heart attack. Sit or lie down and call for emergency assistance.
Anxiety
An intense feeling of doom or a sense that something isn't right. If this feeling comes on suddenly or with other heart attack symptoms, seek emergency medical treatment.
Pain in Arms, Shoulders, or Back
Discomfort or pain spreading to areas like arms, especially the left, shoulders, neck, back, or jaw. Considered a serious sign, especially if the symptom 'creeps' from the chest, warranting immediate medical attention.
Swelling of Feet, Ankles, or Legs
Unexpected fluid accumulation in the lower extremities, which might indicate heart failure or an impending heart attack. Immediate consultation with a healthcare provider is advised.
